Fall is officially here. And with the cooler temperatures comes the need to switch your flip flops for some cute and cozy footwear. One of our favorite wardrobe staples for fall are booties. They’re easy to wear and instantly warm up any outfit. Plus, there are so many options to choose from, you’re bound to find a pair that fit your style.
What to Wear With Your Favorite Booties
Booties are short boots that end right at your ankle bone. Their short height makes them a great choice for any outfit on any day, whether you’re going to the office or hanging out with friends. Let’s chat about some of our favorite things to wear with our booties.
Bring Your Favorite Summer Dress Into Fall
Do you have a summer dress you love and can’t quite seem to leave behind? Bring it with you into fall by adding a denim jacket or cardigan and some booties. Although you can wear booties with any length of dress, we recommend a knee-length or mini dress when styling.
If you live somewhere warmer, try your dress and bootie combo with an open-toed bootie. They’re a perfect transition piece to take from summer to the cooler months.
Elevate Your Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans are the perfect slouchy chic look for any day of the week. To elevate your style, trade your sneakers for a pair of booties. For a weekend trip to the pumpkin patch, put on your boyfriend jeans and add a white tee with a flannel and a pair of casual booties.
For date night, front tuck a cozy sweater into some distressed boyfriend jeans. Then, add a fun pair of eye-catching booties to finish the look (oh, and some statement earrings).
Take Your Booties to the Office
You can also dress your booties up for the office, whether it’s Monday or casual Friday. For example, try adding a statement bootie to your ankle trousers. Then, front tuck a white tee, throw on a blazer or cardigan, and you’ll be good to go.
For casual Friday, trade your trousers in for some dark flare jeans. Adding a bootie will give your outfit a 70s feel. Add a cowl neck sweater to complete the look.
Try a Skinny Jean With Your Booties
The most popular way to wear booties is with a favorite pair of skinny jeans. Throw on a pair of distressed skinny jeans and a black henley tee with a pair of casual booties for running errands. Or, try a pair of black skinny jeans with a buffalo plaid top and booties for a night out.
How to Wear Jeans With Booties
A ton of these styling ideas revolve around the most common wardrobe staple: Jeans. If you opt for a pair of flare or bootcut jeans, all you have to do is throw on your booties and go. Other types of jeans such as boyfriend cut and skinny require a bit of styling to make those booties pop.
Boyfriend Jeans
For the boyfriend cut, you’re going to do a simple roll, starting at the hem of your jeans. You’ll want to roll until there’s a slight gap between your bootie and the end of your jeans. About one to two inches is best. We recommend putting your booties on before rolling and use a mirror to ensure the roll is close to symmetrical on both sides.
Skinny Jeans
If your skinny jeans hit above your ankle, you may not need to do anything else but put on your booties and take off. If they’re longer, though, you’ll want to cuff them for the best fit. For a basic cuff, simply roll the hem an inch or two, once or twice.
To add some flair, try pegging your jeans. This is also helpful if your skinnies are a bit looser around your ankle. Pull the hem of your jeans out and fold the excess fabric in. Then, roll a couple of times to keep the cuff tight, close to the leg and slightly above the ankle.
The goal of rolling and cuffing is to ensure you don’t have excess fabric over the top or inside of your booties. If after styling you still have excess, try cuffing or rolling a couple more times until you achieve the look you’re going for.
